To develop a Searchable products’ database of EU Member States and corresponding EU codes and rules where users can easily find out about all the rules that affect their product.

  • What is the best way of presenting the results to the user?
  • What is the best way of organising the rules to serve usability? Can a mechanism be devised that would automatically feed the national rules into the existing database of the European Commission?

The jury

Marian Grubben

Marian Grubben is Head of Unit for the Digitalsation of the Single market at DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW) of the European Commission. She is responsible for the Single Digital Gateway.

Jean-marc reynders

Jean-Marc is an IT enthusiast and after working 10 years in the private telecommunication sector, joined the European Commission in 2006.
For the past 6 years, Jean-Marc has been the project officer in charge of the IT developments in support of the DG TRADE policy.

Romet Tagobert

Romet has been working for Thorgate (Web design, web development and software development agency with offices in London, UK and in Tallinn, Estonia) and for GrabCAD (The largest online community of professional designers, engineers, manufacturers, and students on the planet) for years and is one of the most sought-after young software engineers in Estonia. At the moment, he is working for clients like snackable.ai (audio machine learning), pilw.io etc.
Since 2018, he also joined Garage48 team as a mentor and has been working with the hackathon participants in Estonia, Sweden and Ukraine on topics from Defence to Empowering women in tech. 
Romet has also participated in hackathons himself, which gives him an complete overview of what is expected from a hackathon and how to help the participants the most. 

Jaanus jagomägi

Jaanus is an UI/ UX designer with an extensive list of clients and work experience. Before founding his own design agency VAIM, he was working for Thorgate and OK Interactive with several different corporate and public sector clients (including Estonian E-Residency projects).

Ana Rosa Guzmán

Ana Rosa Guzmán is a computer and software engineer, a psychologist and a Spanish ICT civil servant. She works for the General Secretariat of Digital Administration, after 20 years working for three international IT companies. She is part of the national coordinator's team for the adoption of the Single Digital Gateway Regulation in Spain and she also actively collaborates in several ISA2 and CEF initiatives focused on public service digitalization and interoperability.

Ute is policy Officer at the European Commission and took part in the development of the Single Digital Gateway since the beginning.

ANDREA SCHEIDL

EXPERT

As a certified communication consultant and trained teacher Andrea has a passion for translating technical and legal language into accessible information. After working for a national government, Andrea joined the Commission in 2003, she manages the EU Trade Helpdesk.

Jorge MARTIN CUERVO

EXPERT

Jorge is a software engineer, passionate about processing complex trade related content and make it available to companies and other clients in a user-friendly way. He works as IT portfolio manager at the European Commission, DG Trade.

Joao Rei

FACILITATOR AND BUSINESS/MARKETING MENTOR

Joao was born in Portugal, living in Estonia for more than 8 years, has a remarkable background in innovation, marketing and digitalization. Before fully committing himself to hosting, mentoring and conducting workshops, Mr. Rei worked as Head of Digital Innovation in Idea Group, consulting companies such as BMW, SEB and L’Oreal.
Joao has deep interest and knowledge in technology and entrepreneurship, but you can also catch him expressing views on politics, societies or even quote poems.
